Henry Moore Institute caught up with blind artist David Johnson as he made 10,000 tactile biscuits for their new Shape-supported exhibition Beyond the Visual. In this film, David discusses the importance of touch in his practice while creating Nuggets of Embodiment, plaster biscuits designed to be held, touched and smelt.

Each biscuit features a word in both engraved text and Braille. Through this work, he reflects on the journey through blindness and invites us to question what the nature of seeing is.

The work is on display in Beyond the Visual at Henry Moore Institute until 19 April 2026.
