Abi Palmer Latest Shape collaboration: Abi was commissioned for Shape Open 2021 to create a new video work titled 'All the worlds you'll never see'. Abi has also hosted previous Zine workshops and one of the three artists participating in Shape's Tate Exchange programme for 2019. Artist Statement: Abi Palmer is an artist and writer. She explores sickness, mystics, viscous textures, and ecological landscapes. Major works include mixed-media solo exhibition ‘Slime Mother,' (Chapter, Cardiff, Site, Sheffield); film series 'Abi Palmer Invents the Weather' (Artangel,) and interactive gambling arcade 'Crip Casino' (exhibited at Tate Modern, Somerset House, Wellcome Collection; Collective, Edinburgh). She is the author of ‘SLUGS: A Manifesto’ (Makina Books, 2024) and ‘Sanatorium' (Penned in the Margins, 2020). Abi’s work has toured internationally, with exhibitions and screenings including EMST (Athens), Kunsthaus Baselland (Basel), Museum of Odesa Modern Art (Odesa), EMAP (Seoul), and Crip Arte Spazio at La Biennnale di Venezia 2024 (Venice), the first major international exhibition of the UK Disability Arts Movement. Her copulating slug sculptures were selected as part of FLARE UP at Goldsmiths CCA (2026). She is a Bloomberg New Contemporaries artist (2023) and recipient of Henry Moore Foundation’s Award For Sculptors (2025); Paul Hamlyn Foundation's Award for Artists (2021) and Artangel’s Thinking Time award (2020).
